Our secondary school learners visited Conishead Priory last week and enjoyed a walk through the woods and along the beach. This visit gave us the chance to talk about the natural world around us and the benefits of getting outdoors and connecting with nature. All this took place against the backdrop of the Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, whose gothic revival building led to discussions about architecture and the intricate detailing on the building. What a wonderful way to learn!
Thanks to the hard work of our young people and staff, our Macmillan Cancer Care Coffee Morning, held on 27th September, was a tremendous success! We were bowled over by the incredible support of our parents, friends, relatives, and community members and are thrilled to announce that we raised a total of £414.89 for this worthy cause. This achievement is a testament to the compassion and generosity that embody the Moorfield Learning Centre and Barrow community.
We were particularly honoured to welcome the Mayor of Barrow, Judith McEwan, and her husband, Councillor and former Mayor, Bill McEwan, who joined our community in this meaningful event.
At Moorfield Learning Centre, we believe in the importance of giving back and supporting those in need. By hosting this event, we not only raised funds for a crucial charity but also provided our learners with the opportunity to develop essential life skills, such as teamwork, empathy, and a sense of social responsibility. These values are at the core of our mission, and we are proud to see them come to life through the dedication and enthusiasm of our school community.
There are regular opportunities for our learners in all settings to visit Greenacres.
Greenacres is set in 3 acres of beautiful meadows, which hold horses, chickens and many other animals. Visits to Greenacres offer our learners the opportunity to connect with animals and nature, helping them to relax and improve their emotional and physical well-being.
Our congratulations go to Greenacres for their Love Barrow Awards nomination. This organisation is such an amazing part of our community. The help and support they give children and young people is outstanding, and the support they give to us at Moorfield is appreciated daily.
You certainly have our vote!
What great weather for our Sports Day! We all enjoyed taking part in a range of agility tests and team games.
Our thanks go to Keith from BAE for a really interesting, informative talk about the apprenticeships on offer with the company. Our learners found about a range of different opportunities available to them and got some useful insight into the BAE behaviours matrix. We also learnt a lot about submarines!
Thank you to Emma from Siemens Energy who came in today to speak to our learners about Apprenticeship opportunities. We all enjoyed a very useful talk, about what the company offers, what roles are available and how we should prepare our applications.https://www.siemens.com/uk/en/company/jobs/search-careers/apprenticeships.html
It's that time of year again when we focus on preparing our school for September, updating our displays and brightening the place up. These vibrant additions not only showcase our curriculum, but also emphasise our commitment to student wellbeing and effective communication. We believe this refreshed environment will inspire and motivate our learners.
