MOORFIELD LEARNING CENTRE

Our vision is to support young people to access education through the offer of a safe, positive, and nurturing environment in which they can grow academically, socially and emotionally.

School improvement Priorities for the year ahead

Moorfield Learning Centre is a small, independent secondary school that provides alternative provision for 12 students, all of whom have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). Many of our students have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or experience Emotionally-Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Our vision is to create a safe, positive, and nurturing environment where young people can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Curriculum and Assessment

As part of our ongoing school improvement efforts, we are focused on enhancing our curriculum planning to ensure clear progression and the specificity of knowledge. This involves reviewing our current curriculum and making necessary adjustments to provide our pupils with a coherent and challenging learning experience.

To support this objective, we are also developing our assessment processes to ensure our staff have a clear understanding of each student's learning and what they know and remember. This will enable us to tailor our teaching and support to meet the individual needs of our pupils.

Wellbeing and Cultural Capital

Recognising the unique needs of our students, we are also prioritising the development of their wellbeing and cultural capital. By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, we aim to empower our pupils to thrive both within and beyond the classroom.

Collaborative Approach

To further strengthen our school improvement efforts, we are committed to developing stronger links between our three learning centres, including our primary and secondary outreach facilities. By uniting our centres in a collaborative network, we can share best practises and foster an inclusive culture that enhances learning outcomes across all our communities.

Anon PArent:

“I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH MY SON’S PROGRESS AT MOORFIELD. HE SEEMS LIKE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CHILD. HE’S HAPPIER, MORE ENGAGED AND WILL OFTEN COME HOME AND SHARE WHAT HE HAS DONE EACH DAY. IT IS SUCH A CHANGE FROM THE ANXIOUS, DEPRESSED PERSON HE WAS BEFORE HE MOVED TO MOORFIELD. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL THE STAFF.”
