Governance at Moorfield Learning Centre
As an independent secondary school, Moorfield Learning Centre is committed to upholding the highest standards of governance and oversight. Our school's vision is to provide a safe, positive, and nurturing environment in which young people can grow academically, socially and emotionally. This commitment to our students' wellbeing and development is reflected in the robust governance structure we have in place.
Our Advisory Board
At the heart of our governance model is the Moorfield Learning Centre Advisory Board. This advisory group is composed of the school's directors, the chair of governors, the headteacher, and a range of representatives from the local community. The board meets on a termly basis to discuss the progress and direction of our three centres - the main secondary school, as well as our primary and secondary outreach hubs.
The purpose of the advisory board is not to make binding decisions, but rather to provide valuable insights, critical thinking, and expert analysis to the school's leadership team. By drawing on the diverse experiences and perspectives of our board members, we are able to increase the confidence and effectiveness of our decision-making processes.
The Role of the Chair of Governors
Our chair of governors, Dave Cubiss, brings a wealth of education experience and expertise to Moorfield Learning Centre. With a background in the sector, Dave is well-equipped to offer guidance and support to our school leadership as we work to fulfil our vision and values. As chair, Dave plays a crucial role in facilitating the advisory board's discussions, ensuring that all voices are heard and that the conversations remain focused on the best interests of our young people. He works closely with the headteacher and directors to identify areas for improvement and explore new opportunities for growth and development.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
At Moorfield Learning Centre, we are committed to continuous improvement and accountability. Our governance structure, with its advisory board and experienced chair, helps us to maintain the highest standards and ensure that we are consistently meeting the needs of our students, their families, and the broader community. By upholding these robust governance practices, we are able to fulfil our vision of providing a safe, positive, and nurturing environment in which young people can thrive. We welcome the scrutiny and guidance of our advisory board, as we believe it is essential to the ongoing success and development of our school.
